The popularity of social media resources keeps increasing. Many people use forums, blogs and different social networks for communication and ideas sharing. The business owners are the ones, who participate the most actively – apart from searching for problem solutions and potential partners they set goals to attract attention to their creative projects or businesses via those social media.
Since everything is digitized nowadays, almost each project or business has a website and a corporate blog, where the general information and the latest updates are revealed. Thus, the marketing coordinators of such projects strive for creating a community of existing fellow users or project contributors and attracting more new visitors to the company or creative group website.
Though it may look rather easy at first glance, many people – especially the beginners – face many problems that make them waste much time. Sure, there are a lot of SEO and Social Media Marketing tips on the Internet, but they usually tell you what to do. This presupposes anyone to follow the same blueprint that may not always work. Therefore, it may sometimes be reasonable to tell what mistakes to be careful about, avoiding problems while reaching goals. The following are five things to be on the lookout for when trying to drum up new traffic.
Social Media Examiner has put on some great online summits this year that I have had the pleasure of attending. Both the Social Media Success Summit and Facebook Success Summit were filled with an amazing amount of valuable content taught by successful experts in the industry.
In 2011, they are partnering with BlogWorld Expo to kick off their online events with one that I know all of my readers will love – the Blogging Success Summit 2011. It begins on February 1st and runs through February 22nd. This event, like the others, will be packed full of useful content that every blogger should know, whether you are blogging for yourself or for your business.
Main Objectives
So what will you learn from attending the Blogging Success Summit? You will:
- Discover the best ways to market your business with a blog!
- Find out how to build an engaging blog presence.
- Discover innovative ways to generate quality leads and increase sales with your blog.
- Learn how to drive traffic to your blog with Facebook and other social media platforms.
- Discover how to grow a loyal blog readership.
- See how successful businesses built their blogs and how you can achieve similar results.
3 Reasons You Should Attend the Blogging Success Summit
So what makes Social Media Examiner’s success summit events so awesome? Here are the main three reasons…
Attend online.
You can attend the Blogging Success Summit from the comfort of your home or office. No airfare, hotel reservations, or time away from your family required. Each session is held live online, and you can ask the presenters questions at the end of the session.
But what if you can’t attend each session when it’s live?
Get full access to recordings and transcripts.
This part is what really makes the event so worthwhile to me. You can download the video, transcript, and slides for each session and keep them indefinitely at no extra charge! And there is a free software that you can use to extract the audio in MP3 format from the video if you prefer to listen to the sessions on your iPod instead.

The Resources Mashup

Blogging / Writing
In 2010, there have been some amazing compilations of bloggers and marketing experts created in order to help you find new sources of information on blogging, business, social media, Internet marketing, and making money online. These lists included a variety of experts who are seasoned in their niche, as well as some who have gained a lot of notoriety in just their first year. The following are some of my personal favorites.
- 100 Marketers You Must Follow on Twitter – This list contains the main blogs, Twitter ID’s, and other major accomplishments by top marketers in the industry.
- 50 Most Influential People in Blogging – This list contains the main blogs and Twitter handles of 50 experienced and new bloggers who have established themselves as experts in their niche.
- 30 Bloggers to Watch – This list was created in January and contains bloggers that have lived up to the hype and become very well respected in their niche throughout the year.
- 20 Social Media Divas You Should Be Following – This list includes 20 amazing women who are experts in the social media marketing arena.
- 125 Women in Blogging – After the hard work I put into this one, I would be crazy not to consider it a favorite of mine! This list contains the blog, Twitter, and latest posts from solely female bloggers.
What Did I Learn From Compiling and Being on Lists
I’m sure that between my list and the others above, there were many bloggers that were caught off-guard. I know I certainly was when I made Social Media Examiner’s list of social media blogs at the beginning of the year.
One thing I learned from that experience which I wanted to share with you is to prepare your blog to be ready for exposure at any moment, because you never know when your site might get the attention it deserves in a major way, such as being listed or hitting the homepage of social networks such as Digg.
