I am over the moon excited to tell you about the project I have been working on! It is something that is near and dear to the heart of what I do and will help you to become more successful at promoting your blog.
I am happy to announce that my first eBook will be available for purchase starting tomorrow at 8:00 AM MST.
Tomorrow, I will share with you the successful methods of promotion I have done for blog posts to make them go from “Eh, a few people commented” to “Holy crap, I can’t even keep up with responses to this post anymore!” But first, I want to take the opportunity to tell you about the recent successes which have been my motivation for writing this eBook.
As most of you may or may not know, I don’t just write for Kikolani. I’m a regular contributor for several other blogs including some industry favorites including Social Media Examiner, Search Engine Journal, and Search Engine Watch.
Exposure from these regular contributions has led to several paid guest blogging gigs to add to my freelance writing portfolio.
In addition, I entered four guest blogging contests in 2010 and won three first place prizes and one second place prize for a total of over 2,000USD in winnings. It’s not too shabby to write four blog posts that average out at 500USD a piece.
There are two things that I do that make being a regular contributor on popular blogs, a successful freelance writer, and a winning guest blogging contest entrant possible.
The first is I spend about three to four hours writing what I think is pretty awesome content.
The second, and this one is probably even more important than the first, is I promote the hell out of that content once it is published.
We’ve heard over and over and over again that content is king. Well sadly, without promotion, no one is ever going to hear about whether that king was a good one or not.
So if you are trying to get more traction for your own blog posts, attain more guest blogging opportunities, earn more as a freelance writer, or win a guest blogging contest, then be sure to be here tomorrow when Blog Post Promotion: The Ultimate Guide launches. You DON’T want to miss this, I promise!
Also, newsletter subscribers will be receiving a discount code for 20% off the introductory price, so be sure to subscribe now so you get your discount!
PS. If you’re interested in becoming an affiliate to earn 40% commission off of any sales you refer, please check out the affiliate details here. Official launch date is tomorrow, so feel free to start spreading the word then!

Kristi,
Congrats on the e-book!! I just did my first “guest blog post”, actually it was for professional photographer magazine online. We’ll see if it brings in a good amount of traffic. I’m sure it takes more than 1 guest blog post to really get traction, but it’s at least a start.

Care to share why you chose e-junkie as the e-commerce site to buy from? Is the cost to print-on-demand via Amazon.com or such that much more expensive?
Ari Herzog @ Social Media Strategies recently posted Why Blogging is Still Not Dying
GREAT question! There are a few reasons including:
1) I wanted my book (with lots of screenshots) to be in color, and that can get quite pricey for POD books. Plus I put a lot of links in it and wanted people to be able to click to a site while reading if they wanted to.
2) I wanted my book to be environmentally friendly (aka, no trees were harmed in the production of it).
3) I chose E-Junkie because I can control the payments to affiliates. No minimums, no lofty requirements. Paypal friendly. Other sites (namely Clickbank) require affiliates to make certain minimums which can hold up an affiliate’s chance for getting their payments. I wrote about that on my slow moving affiliate marketing info site.
4) If Darren Rowse uses it for his eBooks, it can’t be all to bad!
Hey congrats on the new book! I do have to agree, everyone focuses on content but no one ever talks about self promotion. Actually, it may even have a slight negative connotation since no one want to seem “arrogant”. But I think promotion is a necessity and as long as it is done with confidence and the right know-how, people should not fear a negative perception. It would def be interesting to see your view points on promotion and how to do it since everyone has their own techniques.
I think there’s a fine line between self-promotion being a good and necessary thing to going overboard with it. But it’s a funny thing if you think about it… you promote things because you like them and are confident of their quality. So if you create things you like and are confident are valuable, why shouldn’t you promote them?
Amen to that! =)
Congrats on the ebook, as well as all those 1st place prizes. That’s got to be an amazing feeling. I can’t wait to see the ebook when it comes out!

True. But I would have to take the time to find someone I trust, explain it, etc. That has not worked well for me so far.
Congrats, Kristi! Glad to see it, and I’ll be here tomorrow morning to order my copy!

I hope you sell a million of ‘em!

Thanks Jenny! I do hope you come back tomorrow and get a lot out of the strategies in the book!
Stopping by to say Woohoo & Congrats!! I had so much fun creating and designing my 1st ebook and working on my 2nd one now. I look forward to hearing about your success. Don’t forget to add to Amazon kindle and Barnes and Noble e-reader.
Congrats on working on your 2nd!
I’m a little torn about adding it to the e-readers, especially Kindle because I really want the color and graphics to be awesome as well as leave people with the ability to click on the resources whenever they are ready as opposed to having to move to their computer to do it. That’s why I’m starting with the eBook only option. But maybe in the future I’ll definitely consider that!
Yes that’s true! My ebook on pc kindle reader was much better than the actual kindle so I hear ya on that.
I forgot to add that I really like professional cart (product that i use) but have tested out e-junkie to transition over but haven’t taken the time to figure out how to transfer all of my database. I need to work on making the sales page to purchase products in e-junkie just as nice as professional cart layouts.
Yeah, I kind of spent 99% of my time on the content of the eBook (like updating it through last night) and only saved 1% for the other details, like the E-Junkie pages. Still hoping to get some tweaks into it by tomorrow!
I hear ya! There is only so much time in a day!
I’ve been slacking lately but your announcement has made me get my butt in gear to finish my 2nd one! haha, thanks and congrats again!
I slacked for a long time on this, but it’s not like we’re doing nothing but sitting around all day waiting for the eBook to finish itself. It comes with the territory of having other jobs and a life in general.
Kristi, this is great news! looking forward to it!
Good luck

Hi Kristi,
It seems that you won a loooot of money from that guest post contests, that confirms once again to me that you are a very good article writer. You really work very much Kristi, I’m sure you write at least 4 hours daily, and not only you write, you write excellent articles, not regular articles, excellent articles like this one for example, that’s absolutly great and this skill and work of yours will bring you a lot of money and experience. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Thanks Cristian! I have spent 4 hours on a single post before and that is one of the reasons why I think promotion (even self-promotion) is so important, because if you are confident that you have produced quality content, then why shouldn’t you be proud to ask people to come check it out and share it!
