Thanks for covering this. I was beginning to think I was the only person who obsessively checks stats. Now I see I’m not alone. Support group, anyone?

Wonderful post! I have the same “problem” and tend to waste to much time to check statistics. I don´t know why, I guess I am just to curious
I am going to try to reduce the statistics check a bit after reading this post!

You are right. Statistics can be very exhaustive for bloggers. Because of this, I compare the results only once weekly. What to check? It is a huge list. But a few to name. Google Analytics traffic keywords, Google Webmastertools to get SEO positions, Adsense, Chitika, CJ, Amazon etc. earnings.

I think that checking your stats once or twice a day is enough, and probably the maximum. I’ve been pretty good about this for myself and I only end up checking every couple days. The truth is that it really doesn’t matter how often you check because your goal should always be trying to do the best that you can. And checking more often won’t make you succeed more.
