Those are some really ambitious goals. I don’t know how you do as much as you do and have a job too. I can’t get to everything I wish I did each day and I don’t have to go anywhere. Whatever you do accomplish know that some of us do appreciate all you share.

@timethief – I have found some similar results with social media and social networking. I’m in the process of significantly refocusing some of my online efforts for 2010. It’s real easy to spend an hour here and a couple hours there without any real benefit (besides personal enjoyment). While it may be fun and interesting, those hours spent over the course of a week or a month can really add up.

Like you I also have my own business and after a certain point it becomes necessary to look at all the time spent online from an ROI perspective. Some fascinating technologies to explore, but not enough hours in the day to explore and participate in each of them. Whether you are monetizing or not, after a certain point it becomes a matter of bang-for-your-buck in terms of personal and professional time spent.

I’m not a fulltime blogger. My husband and I have our own business and I also do contracted work (research and writing) so my goals are no where near being as time consumptive as yours are. Granted I do have the opportunity to multitask and that’s what I do.

I have been checking my conversion rates and comparing figures for how many hours I spend on blogging and social networking, and what those efforts produced in terms of increased traffic, regular readers and subscribers. My results indicate that I spent far too much time social networking in 2009.

I do not have any intention of monetizing my blogs – blogging is my passion – it brings me zero income. My friends and family feel neglected and I intend to spend more time with them this year. Consequently, my overarching blogging goal for 2010 is to make better use of my time spent online, and to reduce the amount of time I spend on social networking. In 2010 I will be reducing time spent on online activities that do not produce results, and investing more time into those that do.

Looks like a very busy year, Kristi. Goals are great for creating clarity and focus. the more actionable and measurable they are the better. You have me motivated to revisit and refine my goals for the year.
