One of the ways that I promote my most important blog posts, like my massive post on 40+ Tips on How to Become a Social Media Rockstar, is through commenting on blogs enabled with CommentLuv.
There are a ton of awesome lists of CommentLuv enabled blogs out there. But what about forums?
Sure, you might be thinking CommentLuv only works on WordPress, so how can there be CommentLuv enabled forums?
The answer is there are not, not official ones anyway. But vBulletin-powered forums have the option for a third-party add-on that allows members to place an RSS feed in their forum profile. Then, when they post in the forum, their latest blog post comes up with their forum post. You can see what I mean in the following example.

Thus far, I have found three popular forums that use this add-on.
- Bloggeries – Bloggeries Blog Forum is a place for bloggers to discuss blogging. Also includes blogs for sale, free wordpress themes and blogging jobs. Latest blog post links are dofollow. Edit your profile and add your RSS feed in the Blog Feed field.
- V7N – Friendliest webmaster forum on the Internet! Discuss graphic design, scripting, web hosting issues or search engine optimization. Latest blog post links are dofollow. Edit your profile and add your RSS feed in the External Blog Feed field.
- Digital Point – Search engine optimization and marketing forum. Latest blog post links are nofollow. Edit your general settings and add your RSS feed in the Blog XML Feed URL field.
Now while I note that some of these forums will make your latest blog post link dofollow, it doesn’t mean that SEO is the only reason you should post in these forums. As Kharim points out in his article on 5 reasons to be active on forums if you own a blog, one great reason is traffic.
When I used to be active in several forums, I noticed a steady stream of traffic from those forums. And as you know from CommentLuv enabled blogs, you’ll get even more traffic directly to your posts than you will to your main website link when you leave valuable comments.
So be sure to try posting on “CommentLuv” enabled forums today. And if you know of others, please share them in the comments! Happy forum posting!
Ps. If you own a blog and use the base WordPress comment system, consider adding either the free version or premium version (affiliate link) of CommentLuv to your blog today!

It’s cool that CommentLuv has now spread past WordPress. Good for them!
It’s not actually CommentLuv, but an add-on that works about the same. I wonder if one inspired the other one!
Kristi,
Thanks so much for the PR-categorized list of comment-luv blogs. I will bookmark them all! What I notice is that allowing commentluv on ones own blog also increases readers appetite to post comments to ones articles, which in turns can carry keywords, that end up driving additional traffic to the blog. A true win-win situation

Exactly… I love the CommentLuv system on my own blog and when I comment on others!
That’s really cool! I hadn’t heard of any of them, thank you for sharing this with us!

Hi! I know these forums well and they’re all good V7 and Digitalpoint well, cos i have used them for years. They’re all good places for learning something new, or for promoting your services. Just to clear things up, the rss functionality you’re referring to is actually NOT commentluv, but a commentluv LIKE functionality – and it works pretty well!

It does… I just wish I could find more forums that use it!
One reason why I use CommentLuv and allow DoFollow links is that it attracts people that will read my content in order to leave meaningful comments. Plus the readers will come back to do it again in the future. I didn’t know forums allowed this though. Will definitely check these out for sure.

It’s not actually CommentLuv, but a add-on that works about the same way. I’m sure there are more forums out there that use it… just have to track them down!
I didn’t even know forums had comment luv capabilities. This is very cool and like you said.. a GREAT way to promote your blog and generate traffic through basic forum posting.

It’s not actually CommentLuv, but something that works similarly.
I remember when Bloggeries started. They’ve come a long way. Appreciate the tips.

You’re welcome Magali!
I like vbulletin forums. I think they are easier to use and figure out than some of the other kinds. Some people may not be aware of the latest blog feature because I don’t see it being used that often. Some vbulletin forums have a feature to add your twitter feed too.
You might check out big-boards (dot com) for a decent listing of forums that you can find by topic or category. Once you pick a category you can see which ones use vbulletin and check them out to see if they have your commentluv type of system enabled. They have over 2000 forum sites to pick from.

This was one of the features that I love about Digital Point but I found that the admin would turn it on and off all the time. Maybe too many people were abusing it with rude or inappropiate links.
I’ve just been informed on Digital Point that the feature has been reserved only for premium members. I don’t fancy parting with $125 to use it.
That’s so cool. Thanks so much for pointing these forums out Kristi. Sadly, I’m not part of any of these forums. Am gonna join right now – not just for the link feature, but to talk to people!
Thanks again!
I can verify that there is a “steady stream of traffic from my forum posts” to my blog; especially since my signature links to my blog. Forum traffic is very important; and dofollow links would be even greater. Thanks for the heads up.
Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the link to Bloggeries
Much appreciated!
Hi Kristi,
Digital Points Forum I know and quite regularly visit. Thanks for mentioning the V7N forum. Seems legitimate and offers quite a broad discussion / topic list. Especially with the amounts of Threads and Posts.
Thanks for adding my article link. I am too much happy to see my post link on your site. You cant imagine how much happy i am
.Thanks.
BTW I am already on Digital point. Would love to join Bloggeries and v7n.
Thanks. Have a nice day.
Thanks for the forum list. I visited each one and found a lot of topic threads to participate in. Having ways to get backlinks are a real bonus.
I agree with Ray that vBulletin forms are easy to use. I’m also partial to SimplePress and now going to check to see if it offers this same sort of feature. if I or one of my clients decides to set up a public forum, that one feature could help encourage more folks to participate and get it full of traffic quickly.
Thanks Kristi for sharing your knowledge with this post.
I am fairly new to CommentLuv and still finding my way with it, though already I am seeing an increase in reader comments and interaction on my photography site.
I certainly did not know that in could be integrated with forums so your information will be very useful and I will definitely check out your link suggestions.
Thanks a bunch Kristy for such a nice guide over here !
I’m already a member at Digital Point Forums and have added my site’s link there. But since these sites do provide a lot of backlinks, they do not carry as much weight as the ones which provide less links.
More Outbound Links = Less Value
Thanks once again!
