Hi Corey. PageRank seems to be determined by the number of incoming links you have, not the outgoing. My site is holding a PR 5 and I have posts in with individual PR of up to 5 in some cases that have tons of outgoing dofollow links. So I think you're safe. :)

Thanks for the post! I have heard in the past that making your blog dofollow can drain some of your page rank? Do you think there is any validity to this? I am not sure PR really hold that much weight anymore anyway.

[...] Also keep in mind the reason that no-follow links were introduced. It’s not always a good idea to brag about your blog being do-follow and to promote it as a do-follow blog. Hanging up a “this is a do-follow” blog sign will definitely result in some people making opportunistic comments just so they can get a “juicy” link. If you are considering changing your links from no-follow to do-follow you may find this article to be helpful: Do You DoFollow?
http://webdesigner.status.net/ is a dofollow Twitter clone for web developers SEO and SEM pros. Link your Twitter account to this site and create free backlinks with no extra effort. I have also just found a service www.textlinks.com that is giving away 25 free permanent quality contextual backlinks just for registering. It's worked for my site with positive ranking results in Google. Thanks for the do-follow luv!

I recently made by blog Do follow a few months ago. So far I have not really had very many issues with spam. I am using akisment and another plugin that I can't remember off hand. Akismet did a good job of flagging the spam but I would still sift through it and waste time. When I added the other wordpress plugin it essentially eliminates it and I don't even have access to it. When I first installed the plugin I spot checked it for a few weeks for false positives on spam, but didn't see any. So now I don't receive any blatant spam and only the occasional spammer that makes a comment that has nothing to do with the post itself. On those I just manually flag as spam. So far, my do follow experience has been good.
I have learned a lot from reading and commenting on other Do Follow blogs over the past year, so I figured why not return the favor now that I have some PR to share.

I do follow but my blog is so new I do not have to deal with most of the stuff that a more established blog has to. Maybe when I grow up I can give an actual opinion on dofollow vs nofollow but for the moment it's fun.

One of my blogs is also a dofollow blog. But I found that when I did a blog post telling people this that I attracted a ton of spam. Now I use Hobo's dofollow linky love comment spam plug in.

Well, this week has pretty much been a dofollow week for me: I've definitely found and commented on a number of dofollow blogs, some dofollow forums (this had been happening before), improved a dofollow profile or two, built some dofollow links from dofollow social bookmarking. I'm implementing the advice as much as I can; I should be able to update whether this is helping or not in a little bit (I'm gonna give it 3 more weeks, I think).

I should say that even if it doesn't help with search engines ultimately, it does feel good trying to promote, knowing that there are efforts whereby one can try for readers. Sometimes the worst feeling of having a blog is that of "is it even possible for me to get readers?"
