Recent site updates include two new pages. For new readers, or those who may have missed out on a few things, I have created an Archives section which includes guest posts, blog reviews and interviews.

I have also created a Guest Post Opporunities page for those of you who are interested in writing for Kikolani, as I believe guest posting has a lot of benefits for everyone - blog owner, guest writer and readers.

Preview for the week of 15 June 2009

For the past two weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of watching all sorts of desert animals near my home & office. So next week’s photography subjects will be the local southwest creatures and critters.

This week, I started a series called Benefits of Blogging, the first of which is Gaining a Worldwide Audience. Next week, I will continue this series with Building a Community.

New Moon Trailer

For those who didn’t know, yes, I’m a Twilight fan. So needless to say, I was excited when I found a REAL (not fan made, clips of the first movie) trailer for the upcoming movie. So for the rest of you Twilight fans, here’s the trailer for New Moon.

Kristi,

Thank you for the link love. You have really found some great articles. In fact, the Facebook Vanity article is one I knew about a week ago. My friend over at YOURSEOSUCKS wrote about it.

I also enjoyed the WordPress 2.8 Upgrade Issues.

Thank you as always!

Kristi,

You always provide fantastic resources to your readers. I have come across you blog on a few occasions, read a few articles, and left a couple of comments. More and more I find myself a regular reader.

Thank you for the Wordpress 2.8 upgrade issues. That’s a very important one to know right there. This week I did something to the code and it just blew up one of my posts - so I’m taking every precaution to not go through that again.
All the best,
Eren

Kristi,

I confess I started to watch for your Fetching Friday posts, and it’s something that is in my brain close to #followfriday on Twitter. And I’m a big fan of #followfriday on Twitter. As always, thanks for the link love and this time I’m much more thankful because of the Twitter recommendation, much appreciated.

As for the trailer, my wife is a big, big fan of Twilight (even made me watch it once, lol) but she said she already saw the movie. ;-) And it was great!

Hey Kristi! Thanks so much for the plug! Like Dragos, fetching friday posts is starting to be a regular post which I watch out for every week :D I’m beginning to use it as a source of new posts to read. For example, I didn’t even know about Google’s disregarding of the unfollow link until I browsed through the list of links in fetching friday. I guess more reason for bloggers to comment everywhere now :D By the way, I just retweeted and stumbled your fetching friday post :)

Interesting information as usual kristi. My sister has watched the New Moon trailer several times and eagerly waits for its release. This is a person who never liked vampire books or movies, lol.

@John: Congrats on being first! You know, several people say they have already saw it… I’m so jealous!

@Frank: Yes, I’m hearing more and more about the 2.8 upgrade problems. I waited months before doing 2.7, so I figure doing the same for 2.8 won’t hurt.

@Jonathan: Thanks!

@Current CD Rates: Thanks… those are great tips.

@Jennifer: Hehe… I guess if I could have added the entire movie, that would have been the best. :)

@Madhollywood: I’m glad you’re becoming a regular reader! That is always a good thing to hear.

@Eren: I have that issue messing around with Thesis. Sometimes one wrong PHP code will put the whole blog down.

@Hesham: Ah, it’s ok. It is a fight to get this one on time some weeks. If you can, make a template base so that all you have to do is fill in the new info each week. :)

@Ari: You’re welcome. I was under the impression that if you didn’t include the /trackback then WordPress wouldn’t get notified with the pingback. That stuff has always confused me.

@Trevor: You’re welcome!

@Dragos: Again, how are people seeing this movie? Lucky, lucky, lucky. And I took your advice and got that domain. Now I have to think about how I want to handle it. :)

@Celes: I think that even nofollow links help in some ways, like counting up your Yahoo backlinks, for example. Thanks for sharing my post! :)

@Lea: I have always liked vampire movies. I really like the teenage awkwardness mixed in with the vampirism.

16 Sire@ Cool Blog Links June 13, 2009 at 4:57 pm

While I am not a big fan of Thesis, I do have a blog using that theme and so I reckon I will make use of the Thesis directory. Thanks Kristi, there is always a little gem or two to be found in all your posts.

17 Adrenalynn June 14, 2009 at 4:48 am

I don’t know how you do it, but each and every one of these links are great reads! Thanks for sharing. I also appreciate the fact that you link at least some of these articles on Twitter as you read them.

I was very excited as well to finally see the official Twilight trailer, but I don’t know- I’m not crazy about it. It just felt a little unfinished to me, but maybe that’s because I was expecting it to be different based on the fact that I’ve read the book. But I’m really looking forward to the movie!

18 Kim Woodbridge June 14, 2009 at 5:58 am

Thanks Kristi! Wow - two this time :-)

Do you work on this throughout the week - add in a link every time you find one? I do my lists that way and then clean up the code before I post it.

While I know what Twilight is and I tend to like vampire stuff I am clueless about the books and movies. Maybe I’m too old … ;-)

Thanks Kristi, as usual a wealth of useful links and information! The huge repository of icons have come at just the right time for me as I have been on the look out for some cool free icons. Looks like I’ll now have to spend some time searching through for the perfect ones!

Also useful to see how people are getting on with the Wordrpess 2.8 upgrade, I’ll be holding fire on that for now whilst I check out plugin compatibility issues as I’m sure the will be some amongst the many bits and pieces we use!

Interesting links, Kristi. Under the Tech/SEO in this post, I do urge the readers, espcially who are doing SEO by themselves, to check the ‘SEO Sculpting’ article. It’s a must read and it seems we are going to see changes in Google’s Algorithim for PageRank soon!
