Fetching Friday – Resources Mashup & Kitten Meets Hedgehog

This post is part of a weekly series, Fetching Friday, featuring the best posts of the week in blogging, business, SEO, and social media on kikolani.com.

The Resources Mashup

Here are some of the best articles I have seen on Google+, retweeted on @kikolani, and read in RSS subscriptions this week.

Blogging / Content

Business / Career

Search Engines / SEO

  • Top 5 Google Analytics Changes You Might Have Missed – Five recent changes to Google Analytics can lead to a more efffective and accurate use of the toolset and your metrics. They can save you time and headaches and make your data more meaningful.
  • On-Page SEO: Past, Present & Future – Is your on-page SEO up to par? Now more than ever, websites need to make sure that the elements of usability and findability are in the proper ratios.
  • The Google AdWords Landscape (Infographic) – We tend to think of AdWords as the domain of PPC specialists, but it’s becoming clearer and clearer that Google’s SERP advertising has a huge impact on the position and effectiveness of organic results.
  • The State of SEO: Experts Weight In – Part I and Part II – SEO.com experts weigh on the future of social media, local SEO, mobile SEO and on-page optimization.
  • 7 Content Archetypes that Generate Natural Links – If you’re struggling to get natural links you may think that your stuff simply isn’t “good enough”. Or that you have to resort to lame link bait articles. In my experience, content quality is only a small part of the story and link bait hardly ever works. So what does? The right content archetypes.

  1. Wow, looks like I have a lot of good stuff to read. I just worked my way through the Pinterest article which was quite helpful. With my new project I am planning on getting into different social channels that I’ve neglected in the past and Pinterest is a big one. I’m not sure of the quality of traffic it might bring, but it’s certainly worth trying out.

  2. Thanks for sharing all this information. I know what I really need to focus and work on this weekend thanks to this post!

So from this post I am gathering that your focusing more on Google + than Facebook would this be a correct assumption?

    Thanks,

    • I’m still doing both. Twitter is my most used network, then Facebook and Google+, and lastly LinkedIn. Trying to be more active on them all is tough. :)

  3. Thanks for this. Looking forward to reading most of these links. Sometimes we do treat new ideas like hedgehogs, don’t we? ;)

Summed up many blog worth of research in one neat picture

  8. Kristi, I loved the link, “Six Lazy Ways To Trick Your Brain Into Being Productive.” One suggestion listed was to spend more working time at a coffee shop. It said that research shows that the ambient buzz of a coffee shop increases productivity. You know…kidding aside…it kind of does. The right kind of Coffee shop does give me a little energy. I liked this one :)

    • I need to try working out of Starbucks or a local coffee shop sometime. I know it would be more productive there than in my own house right now. :)
