Fetching Friday – Resources Mashup, TED & Creativity

by Kristi Hines on February 19, 2010 · 25 comments · Fetching Friday

This post is part of a weekly series, Fetching Friday, featuring the resources mashup, a video from TED on creativity, and what’s coming up on kikolani.com.

The Resources Mashup

Here are some of the best articles I have stumbledupon this week.

Blogging / Writing

Business / Finance

Graphic / Web Design

Make Money Online

Personal Development / Self Improvement / Health

Photography / Digital Art

Search Engines / SEO

Social Media

Tech / Security

WordPress

Coming Up on the Kikolani Network

Next week, I have an interesting guest post about how bloggers can use online marketing tips to make money online as well as an article on how to make sure people know what you are about when they find you online.

On Creativity

I saw a post on the TED experience and was reminded of this video I saw with Amy Tan speaking about creativity. Just something to open your minds and creative spirits.

Ari Herzog from Online Media Strategies February 19, 2010 at 7:22 pm

Something to consider, Kristi: It would be nice to see the source of each of your links and some commentary in a sentence or two elaborating why you find the content valuable enough to share with us.

I can click links to figure out if valuable to me, but you’re sharing for a reason and I’m always curious why.

Ari, as many links as she’s putting out, and as often as she’s doing it, let’s just be satisfied with what she’s already giving us. We always seem to want more, even when we’re getting stuff for free.

Thanks again for a wonderful list, Kristi.

I’m with Mitch, I think Kristi’s putting a whole lot of work into these posts just by sourcing the links and categorizing them for us. I know she has a lot on her plate and I am more than happy with her efforts.

Zeenat{Positive Provocations} February 20, 2010 at 4:22 pm

Kristi, Awesome list as always! Some i have read..and some not…Will get t o all of them over the weekend.
One question Kristi…At the moment i am on wordpress.com and was thinking about shifting to my own domain name. Wordpress.com offers a forwarding mapping facility. What i was wondering is that if i do change my domain name…will that affect my existing google ranks and will that also affect all the incoming links to the blog?
Much love,
Z~

Ari Herzog from Online Media Strategies February 21, 2010 at 12:29 pm

Page rank is meaningless, so don’t worry about that. If you provide online content that is dynamic and that people like, comment on, and link to, then search engines notice it.

As far as your second question, if you change an existing link, then people would link to the old, not the new.
