A selection of photos from our visit to the Shark Reef Aquarium in the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. I am proud to say I did touch the stingray in the touchpool.

They are so cool. I took some photos at the Sydney Aquarium that I will be posting later on. It was pretty dark in the aquarium which forced me to use flash. Took awhile to work out how to stop the flash reflecting off the glass. Did you have to use flash?

Very cool indeed. Did you check out the garden in the Bellagio, or the Lions at the MGM Grand? Last time the wife and I went, we went and saw the lions…well…mating. It was a pretty funny time actually. Very cool pictures though!

Ahh stingrays…I remember feeding them when I went to seaworld…felt so weird. Also remember almost standing on the biggest stingray at discovery cove – the fright of that being under me all of a sudden was immense, people heard me scream through my snorkel :\ lol!

Ok, is it just me, or do you start seeing the starfish from Finding Nemo when you see a starfish?

Mandalay Bay is a nice hotel. Does MGM still have the lion exhibit? That was really neat too.

@Sire: I had to use flash to get the starfish, and I tended to just shoot slow moving things without the flash. It takes either a really steady hand, or something to set the camera against to hold it steady. Any photography with glass or fence in between can be quite tricky. Especially in low lighting.

@Ben: It does in the photo, but it was pretty stationary in that spot while I was watching it.

@Dan: I’d love to feed one. But I jumped when the one I was touching moved toward me. :)

@Wayne: I don’t when I see starfish, but I always picture the Finding Nemo turtles when I see giant sea turtles.

I think MGM does, but we didn’t get time to stop there. We saw the lions at the Secret Garden in Mirage instead.

@Web Marketing: We did see the Bellagio, but missed MGM. Probably will catch that the next time around. I’ve never seen lions mating, but I did see those huge turtles at the San Diego zoo doing their thing once. Very funny, and odd.

I found I got best results if I held the camera at an angle so that the flash would bounce away from the camera rather than at it.

@Wayne: I had mine. He photographed when I jumped while touching the sting ray. :)

@Sire: I tried that approach. But I felt bad blinding the poor sea creatures with my flash, so I opted for blurry or luck photos without it instead.

Good one Kristi, now you’ve made me feel all guilty for blinding those poor fishes.
