Merlin Crosses the Rainbow Bridge

by Kristi on August 24, 2009 · 30 comments · posted in Daily Life, Photography

This weekend, we had to say goodbye to our kitty, Merlin. This post is a tribute to a cat who, despite his snarky personality would be the first to cuddle up on the sofa with you when you were sick. He will be greatly missed by all of his human and fellow animal companions.

Merlin: A Tribute

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

My heart goes out to you Kristi. I know when I lost my golden retriever Monty almost two years ago it broke my heart. She was the family pet since I was around 10 and losing her was one of the few times I have ever heard my Dad cry.

Your photographic tribute to Merlin was crafted expertly as always and somewhere over that rainbow bridge that twinkle of a magical spirit purrs on in delight.

Kristi, we are very sorry to hear about your loss.
I know that Merlin was greeted with lots of love as he crossed over. He now has no aches or pains & never a want, everything about him is just purrfect. He has no concept of time, just joy as he waits to be with with those he loves once more.
Take joy in the time you have had with him on earth knowing that the 2 of you share love that will live on forever.

It’s always sad to lose a pet. It always amazes me how close an animal can get with family members. So sorry for your loss but it’s one of those things you know will eventually happen but you enjoy the moments together instead of dwelling on the enviable fact called death. Soon you will die as well as this is the way life works. Sad but true. Enjoy the good times while they last. You have a lot of fond memories and that’s what counts.

I’m sorry for your loss, I’ve been there also. it was really hard for me since I’ve been partially guilty for my cat’s disappearing. It’s important you remember the good moments, although you shouldn’t deny your feelings of sorrow.

I can see Merlin was very much loved – by all the photos of him displayed here. He looks like he was a happy cat, and I’m sure will be all over you when you meet again.

Love the photo of him with the remote!
