Kikolani is powered by Thesis. Why do I love this theme? It offers a framework that is ready to use, right out of the package. If you want to customize it, all of your customizations are in two files as opposed to all throughout the files of the theme. So if anything happens, and you have to update your theme, you do not have to worry about where all of your customizations are.
Still not sure about Thesis? See what you can do with it, then decide.
BREAKING NEWS: The price of the upcoming Thesis 2.0 developer's edition is rumored to increase from $164 to $297 USD! The personal edition (currently $87) will increase as well to an amount yet to be disclosed. Get Thesis now (or upgrade to the developer's edition now) before the price jump!

Now, that looks like a pretty big seed pod. As I have never seen one in real life I am left to wonder on it’s actual size. Can you perhaps give us something that we can use as a comparison to gauge its actual size?

It’s hard to believe that this is something from Earth! It looks almost alien and capable of having a life of its own!
Hi Kristi!
Wow this is so unique! It never ceases to surprise me how diverse nature is! The shapes, the patterns, the textures…are all so exquisite!

Nice blog – adding you to my rss reader – keep up the good work!
The buds can grow up to about 3″ in length, we have quite a few Magnolia trees in our local Botanical gardens, they are very beautiful when they bloom.
Very nice photo, I always wondered what a magnolia tree sea pod looked like!
Lol seriously Kristi,

@Ulla: You’re welcome.
@Sire: I think the one I photographed would cover the palm of your hand at least. I should have a photo of the full tree in my files somewhere. I’ll browse around.
@Uncle Pete: It does look a little freaky, now that everyone mentions it.
@Evita: I kind of wish I had touched it too. It looks a bit fuzzy.
@Wayne: I’m pretty sure it is filled with stuff, maybe like tossing a peach with texture.
@Tucsoncarinsuranceguy: Thanks! Hope you enjoy future posts.
@Khaled: You’re so lucky. I miss those trees in Mississippi.
@Shannon: Most people have just photos of the blossoms, so I thought it would be neat to show where they came from. The pod is very unique!
@Ben: I did, the last time I visited my old hometown in Mississippi. I think it was from a tree at a house I used to live in.
WOW! That’s one impressive Magnolia Tree Seed. I haven’t found may of them looking this healthy these days. Good find!
Best Regards,
Jermaine
Hi, My name is Jack. I am 8 and in 3rd grade. I found a seed pod at school in the courtyard. We were looking to find what type of tree it was from. Mine is reddish orange and has bright shiny red seeds inside (like M&M’s). The seed pod opened yesterday and we found the seed and today another seed was coming out. I think it is drying out in the house. I hope to plant a seed next spring and watch it grow.
Thanks for the website.
P.S. The tree was very neat!!
