Hi, My name is Jack. I am 8 and in 3rd grade. I found a seed pod at school in the courtyard. We were looking to find what type of tree it was from. Mine is reddish orange and has bright shiny red seeds inside (like M&M’s). The seed pod opened yesterday and we found the seed and today another seed was coming out. I think it is drying out in the house. I hope to plant a seed next spring and watch it grow.

@Sire: I think the one I photographed would cover the palm of your hand at least. I should have a photo of the full tree in my files somewhere. I’ll browse around.

The buds can grow up to about 3″ in length, we have quite a few Magnolia trees in our local Botanical gardens, they are very beautiful when they bloom.
