As some of you may have noticed, there have been many changes around this site over the past few weeks. My goal is to take this blog to the next level, and coinciding perfectly with this is the start of ProBlogger’s 31 Days to Build a Better Blog Challenge. If you have a blog, and want to get tips on how to improve your blog from one of the top bloggers, then I recommend you sign up for this project.
The first task in this challenge is to create an elevator pitch for your blog. I was already in the process of drafting a new concept for this site a couple of days ago, and have finally decided on the following:
Tagline: The Art of Blogging | Technically, Beautifully, Beneficially | Kikolani or The Art of Blogging | Technically Beautiful, Artfully Beneficial | Kikolani
Description: Kikolani is about the art of blogging – the technical aspects with blogging and social networking tips, the beauty with photography and poetry, and the benefits for writers and readers.
I came up with the first tagline and my hubby did the second one, so now I can have a little variety. I believe these incorporate most of what this site has to offer – the technical articles about blogging and social networking, the beneficial articles on motivation and how blogging can help develop a person, and the beautiful articles of photography and poetry that I still plan to include. I believe that everyone needs a break from heavy business and technical articles every now and then.
Over the next 31 days, if you have any feedback about the new concept and any other on-going changes, please let me know in the comments.

Oh I had forgotten all about it ! @Problogger was all over it on twitter. But life as it is kept me away.
I am currently in process of upgrading my blog and taking it to the next level too but I am giving it a timeframe of 4 months from start to Finish.
I already have a new design, and it’s coded too, now I have to plan how I need to organize content and what changes I need to bring in what I write.
I am going to sign up with @Problogger later because right now I am deprived of time ! But I like you to keep up informed about this program. So far the new tagline is off to a great start !
Good Luck !
P.S. This text in the textarea is too small ! 10pt or 12pt would do nice.

I too am doing the Problogger 31 day challenge and have also had a go at writing a tagline. I like how you’ve incorporated your love of photography etc into yours. I wasn’t sure how to do mine. I’d love your opinion.

I participating in ProBlogger’s challenge, too!
Darren is so cool, even though he’s an A-List blogger…

Yup, I need to make my post too. Seems that’s going to be the thing to do. Plus, I hope it will embed the rush of info in my wee little noggin a bit better, lol

@Jaffer: 4 months is a realistic goal. I started tweaking my site about a month ago, so the project is coming at the right time, after I did some basic layout fixes. And I did get the textarea font fixed – I’m not sure how the text got so small.
@Jen: I like the way you did your pitch – it does incorporate a little bit of everything, and leaves the wiggle room for new topics as well.
@Alexander: That’s why he’s an A-list blogger – he doesn’t just hoard all his information to sell, but shares the bulk of it freely with everyone. Plus he creates these challenges and projects that get readers motivated to action, with benefits to both himself (the traffic) and the readers (great tips on improving their blogs).
@Waynejohn: Applying the things we learn definitely help them stick better in the mind, as opposed to reading about it, bookmarking it for later, and probably not finding the time to go back and do anything with it.
@Jonathan: Thanks! I’m hoping the new concept will get things more consistent and focused here.
I’m taking part as well. My elevator pitch is
“Smashill builds Creative Capital.” Nice to see so many people taking part in this whole event.
Goodness, I’m in this challenge, and have to admit that I haven’t read either of the first two emails yet. But I will, because I want to see if I improve from any of it also. Good luck!

I’m glad to see so many people taking part in the blog challenge – I knew I wouldn’t really have the time to devote to it so I’m not participating.
I think the “art of blogging” is perfect for your site.

@smashill: Yes… it should mean that lots of blogs will be improved by the end of next month. Great pitch!
@Mitch: Mine has already benefited with nailing down the new pitch. I did realize I’ll end up getting behind in 2 weeks since I’ll be on my honeymoon… lots of makeup work to do when I return!
@Kim: Thanks, I’m glad you like it!
Well done,Kristy. It’s important to set goals for yourself not just blogging so keep it up. I also read [problogger's] article and it’s very informative indeed.
Keep it up, Kristy

@Hicham: Yes, I have learned the value in the last several months of having goals, and sharing those with others so if you begin to slack off, they give you a friendly nudge in the right direction.
Hey Kristi! I look forward to seeing kikolani transform over the remaining days of the month!
Your blog is looking better and better every time I drop by and it’s clearly set up for great success! I’m also in Problogger’s transform your blog program, though I joined only a couple days ago. My blog’s elevator pitch is also the tagline, which is ‘Embrace Living helps you achieve your highest potential and embrace your best life’

@Celes: Thanks! I’m glad to hear that you like the modifications around the site. Your pitch and blog are definitely in sync with each other! It’s a great site.
I am a new visitor to your blog and noticed the tagline in your header straight away. I was impressed. Makes mine seem very dull. I too am trying to take my blog to a new level. Lots of ideas but lacking in time to do it all.
@Sueblimely: Welcome to my site! I’m glad the new tagline is catching on well. I know exactly what you mean about lots of ideas… I feel like if I had a solid week to devote to all the things I want to do to my site, it would be so amazing. But first, I’d have to find that much free time.
Finally I found a blog that will give me some solid advice. I have been to several blogs and I am totally lost. I don’t know what to believe and how I should go about doing things. I like your approach.
