I would think the sun is something or someone you love and who loves you. Could be a parent, a friend, a significant other. Could be God. Even though this entity still appears to "radiate" love, you no longer feel the warmth of the rays. Very insightful and and not too specific so it relates to many; most of us with any life experience have realized this "brown-out" of Love. Some would criticize your style as too simplistic but I would disagree. So many poets work so hard to be obscure that you can't understand a dam thing they're saying. Lastly, I enjoyed reading it and read the whole thing. That's an accomplishment to the poet these days.

@kuanhoong: Thanks.

@Sire: Originally, it was written about how you can be totally in love with someone, and then one day realize the feeling of being loved by them disappears, not by any fault of theirs.

@Daniel: I'm glad you like them! :)

@Uncle Pete: Wow, that was a wonderful interpretation. And I'm glad to know where I get my writing from... no one else I knew had the poetry writing bug like I do.

@Nathan: I used to do punctuation, but after awhile, I felt like it somehow inhibited others from freely translating the poem as it felt to them. So yes, it is about being open and free writing style. :)

@Ingrid and Isabel: Thanks.

Just came here from Plurk when I noticed that you had a poetry site.

Very interesting poem, very clean and well designed. I was impressed by the change in places and the fact that you wrote it ten years ago. The only thing that I would have liked to see would be question marks after the question statements, but its obvious that you were going for a more free and open design, so that's good too.

The interpretation of this poem, like the poetry itself, is something deeply personal. The beauty of poetry is that it has the ability to inspire and flick on the hidden flames of desire or passion within us. Just as it is in music, some songs resonate within our lives more than others and have the power to spur memories, particular emototions or inspire us to move forward.

Looking at this poem, it speaks of love, warmth and role reversal with questions inlaid for a more objective viewpoint. The nature of this poem speaks of love, and the poet shows a deep-seeded longing for love despite the many obstacles and questions (emotional, physical and mental).

The poet seeks to validate a strong recognition of love and also allows the reader to know that although love may appear to have been lost, it is still there to be found despite the readers inability to see or feel it in physical sense.

It is a poem of conditional questionw and asks the reader to look inside themselves and question their ability to love unconditionally even though their world may seem devoid of validated or reciprocated love.

Kiko, it must be a genetic thing because you, your dad and myself all inspire to pen the prose. Someday, I will share my silly ditty's with you as well!

With love,
Uncle Pete

@Sire: I like that interpretation. I remember what I wrote it for originally, but reading it now, it seems to take on different meanings.

@Vered: The only writing I threw out was on accident. All of my journals from high school. It was in a box that should have gotten on a moving truck, but instead was tossed by the people helping me move. I miss those journals. I have since saved all my writing, mostly digitally now so I can keep backups.

@Aldhis: Thanks.

@Kim: The heart changed. But it did not choose to.

@Wayne: My writing has always been emotionally driven. Sometimes I do not even know what I will discover by the time the pen stops scribbling across the page. This was one of those times.

@Irtiza: Exactly.

@Chloe: Thanks. Yes, the photo by Dave just seemed to fit perfectly for this piece.

@Dan: Another great way to look at it.

@Web Marketing: Whoops, missed that. I was doing some last minute of that line, and forgot to get it to sync. Thanks for noticing.

@Jaffer: Yes, it definitely is now. Thanks!

What a beautiful and yet thought provoking poem !

I'm not even attempting to interpret this - I'm just going to read it again and loose myself in it !

Hoping the sun is shining warmly and brightly on your side !
