Star Trek Convention 2009 – Las Vegas Hilton

This past weekend, I attended the Star Trek Convention at Hilton in Las Vegas with my hubby and my mom. Here are some shots from the convention.

The Stars

These are my snaps from during the convention. They’re not the best of quality, considering how far back we were, but I thought they were pretty good for the distance.

The Costumes

Besides the stars, one of the best parts of the convention was the costumes! People were dressed up left and right for days before and after the contest.

And last, but not least, was the end of the day celebration with some drinks from Fat Tuesdays!

Kristi- I’m sorry I haven’t visited your blog in a while; been busy. But I had to laugh about the Star Trek Convention. My husband is a huge Star Trek fan but he hates to tell people. However, we went to an exhibition one year at the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum and they had a special Star Trek exhibit. We took all kinds of photos too. But we didn’t get to meet in person many of these people. I’ll have to show Greg your photos. He’s love them. I was not into Star Trek but after almost 25 years of marriage, I’ve grown to enjoy it too. :) Debbie

Aww, they’re missing Picard and the DS9 crew! Looks like a fun convention nonetheless. Good photos; it’s hard to get good quality in such dark conditions, even with an SLR.

Great party! I love the Ferengi costume and mask the most from your pictures. I wonder when the new movie will be released, and the most important – when there will be the new series and what part of Star Trek world will it present. I hope for something after the Dominium Wars, because I’m curious what will happen next. How will the Borg wars end, and what will happen to Picard and Riker after the second one become captain of USS Titan. I know that such series could not come soon, because the series has restarted, but I think that some TV series will be produced after all, independently from movies.

Hey Kristi! Seems like you had fun at the convention :D I’ve never watched Star Trek before but hear *so* much about it! The costumes look terrific – I love watching people dress up in costume events (and taking part in it makes it even more fun!)

I’ve always wanted to go to one of these conventions just to see all the costumes and eccentric behavior from the trekkies! Also, I want to meet George Takei. That dude rocks!

It seem that you had a great time, I went to a contest last week, it was great but I didn’t like the organizers work, I am sure that Vegas is more Excited than Golf Porto Marina :)

I would have loved to have gone to the Star Trek convention. I am so jealous… and I call myself a Trekkie…

I am glad to have seen your images though. It does go a ways to fulfilling my Star Trek quotient.

Nice to see all these together. I never had a chance for it.

I have dreamt of going to this convention for years and finally I bought my tickets and now I find out that Star trek the experience is closed and there’s nothing left to see. Ive never been to a big trek convention before, does anyone know if the Con will be good this year without Quarks, borg4d rides etc.. ?

It was great to see Leonard Nimoy & William Shatner together again. It must have been a very interesting crowd ;-) Looks like no Picard or Riecker! Cool photos just the same. Thanks for sharing.

And no Worf too! It’s really not the same with any of those three, maybe I’m slightly biased as I was a bigger Enterprise fan than I was the original. Quite surprised they managed to get Zachary Quinto to turn up though, he’s pretty big at the moment.

Andre Kibbe September 11, 2009 at 9:38 pm

Great coverage Kristi! I’d be jealous, but I’ve got my tickets for the Los Angeles convention at the Marriott two weeks from now, and your post has got me pumped. I haven’t been to one since the Star Trek III came out. The schedule’s “TBA” a couple of days before, so who knows if we’ll get the A-listers you got in Vegas (maybe my ex-roommate, who’s Shatner’s PA, knows of His Kirkness is going).

Nice pics by the way. Stage shots are always tough, even with the best of lighting, but you pulled it off. And as Celes noted, it looks like you had some serious fun.

I have the best memories of Bill Shatner and friends. It must be great to get the chance to be up close and personal. Did you get the feeling that the old cast and crew is still enjoying themselves after all these years?
