The Sweetest Drug

by KristiH on October 22, 2008 · 15 comments · Poetry

Love is a drug
It comes in many forms
As there are varieties
Of potential lovers

You begin feeling strong
That you do not need it
Until you get a taste
By choice or by accident

Once you have the penchant
The craving will begin
It weakens in time only if
You can stop savoring it

But each time you do
The need, the desire for it
Grows stronger and begins
To drive you out of your mind

It makes you ecstatic
When you know you have it
It makes you almost crazy
When you stand to lose it

The quest to attain more
Can take over your thoughts,
Until all you can think of
Is this sweet drug, love

I reckon it must have something to do with my age and wanting to go backwards in time kristi, but you could almost substitute love for sex and it would make just as much sense. Do I deserve a spanking for that, because if I do then I am willing to take my punishment?

keyluv seems to be working well.

Where is love nowadays?
If you are fortunate to have people really love you then consider yourself blessed.
As far as the poem I thought you were referring to my love,Mary Juana ;)

Wasn’t drug supposed to be bitter,
and poison supposed to be sweet,
so if love is so sweet,
would it be poison or reliever,

@Ben: Exactly. It’s the best thing to be addicted to.

@Dan: Thanks!

@Christopher: I am glad you do!

@Dilasari: That is very true. People are happier with love, and happier people would make the world a better place.

@Sire: You could, since sex is an strong expression of love.

@Vered: Yes it is. People do the most absurd things in an attempt to hold onto love.

@John: I think it is all around us, but we are sometimes too involved with other things to notice or appreciate it.

@Vicki: I am glad my writing is able to convey it in a way that everyone can appreciate.

@dextro: Not all drugs are bitter, but even some of the ones that are still have a blissful effect.

@Marie: Thanks. I think so long as I’m inspired, I shall. :)
