Maybe you’ve seen me around. Maybe you haven’t. In any case, I have been blogging for just around one month. During this time I’ve connected with many and enjoyed the journey.
A lot of people think there’s a secret to growing your blog fast. There are a lot of factors that come into play if you want to get more traffic, subscribers and even fans. Let’s have a peek at those, shall we?
Mentor
The first thing I always do when I want to learn something new is to find someone who’s already doing what I want to do. My mentor at the moment is Chris Garrett who has been immensely helpful in answering my questions.
It’s that time of year… when most people are in the midst of goal setting for the new year to make sure that it is better than the last. Here are some of my goals in blogging and social media for 2010. Although I’m off to a slow start, I feel I have plenty of time to make these goals happen!
Blogging Goals
This year, two of the most important things I want to focus on in the blogging arena is content and community. Therefore, my goals in blogging are as follows.
- Create a schedule using Google Calendar for weekly posting on all blogs, including:

In the early days, blogs were simply personal journals, where an aspiring writer would share their innermost thoughts with whoever might happen to stumble across their site. Today, a new blog is created every single second and it’s no longer just for personal use.
Business blogging is becoming increasingly popular. Previously skeptical business owners and marketers are seeing the benefits of using this interface to communicate with potential clients and to network as well. And indeed its benefits are numerous, but only if it’s done right. So just how can you make blogging work for your business?
This year has been a great one for Kikolani in terms of choosing a focus on blogging and social media, and then sticking with it. The following is a compilation of the best blogging articles on Kikolani for 2009.
Benefits of Blogging
On December 1, 2009, the new FTC guidelines concerning product endorsements and testimonials goes into effect. For bloggers and social media users, it means that if you are promoting a product, you have to make it clear if you are receiving any financial gain (or “material connections”) for said promotion.
As I understand it, this includes if a advertiser pays you writing a review, gives you a free product to try in exchange for the review, or gives you commission when someone purchases the product after clicking on a link to it from your website.
It also affects the types of testimonials you can have about products. No more “results are not typical” testimonials that include how someone made millions just by following a strategy or lost a boatload of pounds in just months by taking a diet pill. The testimonials have to be about the average results.
For most of my readers, the holiday season is about to go into full swing, starting tomorrow with Thanksgiving. Tis the season of four day weekends, or even full weeks off of full time jobs, depending on what you do for a living.
Yesterday, I was browsing the web for some new WordPress themes, and I found a site that had a lot of great premium like themes for free. I was quite impressed with them, ran a demo of a few of the themes, downloaded some, and added them to a new site that I am working on. After installing the theme, I went to adding my content and doing my usual customization. Everything was going great, until I hit the footer of my new theme.
In the theme’s demo, the footer looks like this:
I have no problems with keeping the credits for a theme. I have no issues whatsoever giving credit to the designers of the theme and sending some traffic back to the site so others can find and download these themes as well. Sometimes I rearrange the credits to suit the way I want to lay out my footer, or I may link directly to the theme’s page instead of the homepage of the theme site, but the credit will be there.
Now, take a look at the footer that comes with the downloaded theme:

So why should you love CommentLuv blogs, and how do you get the most out of them as a commenter, blog owner, and blog reader?
CommentLuv for Commenters
The most obvious perk for commenters who have their own blog is that CommentLuv enabled blogs allow the commenter to not only leave behind a link to their blog, but also to their latest articles. Here are some tips on how to utilize CommentLuv as a commenter.
Register Your Site
The best way to utilize CommentLuv blogs for commenters is to first register your blog at ComLuv. Unregistered blogs are usually allowed to leave behind their latest post on a CommentLuv enabled blog, but registered blogs are able to select from their latest group of posts on most CommentLuv enabled blogs.
