Time Management – The Internet Marketing “Copy and Paste” Schedule

Time is money.

As an entrepreneur and Internet Marketer, time is something I wish I had more of, and something I’ve truly wasted a lot of, over the years. It’s a shame we can’t just turn back the hands of time. What ever happened to all those years? Wouldn’t it be nice to change a lot of things you’ve done over the years? If I could change my past, I would of walked down very different paths in life, better yet, I’d of probably taken off running down some of them.

The sad fact is that none of us have the power to change our past – the great news I’m bringing your way today, is that if you’re anything at all like me and work online (I’m a Local SEO), you can change the length of your days, as per what you can get accomplished. Have you ever experienced one of those days where at the end of the day, when you’re just about to power off, wish you would of gotten a lot more done throughout that day?

You have the power to change in the future. Not getting the amounts of traffic you’d like to your site, not making the kind of money you’d like to make? What I’m about to talk to you about will make a big difference in where you are next year. This doesn’t change the past, but surely helps in making up for lost time. Not to mention, the success it’ll bring right to your very being of your front door.

As a enthusiastic blogger and professional Search Engine Optimizer, it’s so very easy to get caught up in what I’m doing each day. I’ve paid attention to the time it takes to chat with friends (colleagues) on Skype and how time consuming it can be to hang-out on Google+ and forums. If you, my friend aren’t careful, you too can so very easily get caught up in wasting more time each day on worthless activities, than what you are putting forth effort, in growing your business.

Whether you’re the manager of a fortune 1000 company or a work from home mom, the following task will just help you to start making much more money, but will change your life for the better in a whole world of new ways. I advise you to setup a similar schedule, and begin following through with it every day.

The Internet Marketing Copy and Paste Schedule:

  • 9:00am – 1 hour – Create New Content
  • 10:00am – 30mins – Potential Client Prospecting via Skype
  • 10:30AM – 30mins – Manage Your Social Media Platforms
  • 11:00am – 1 hour – Manage Daily Tasks
  • 12:00pm – 30mins – Lunch Break
  • 12:30pm – 1 hour – Resume Daily Task
  • 1:30pm – 1 hour – Manage Another of Your Tasks
  • 2:30pm – 1 hour – Forum Marketing
  • 3:30pm – 1 hour – Work on Something New
  • 4:30pm -30mins – Finish Up a Task
  • 5:00pm – STOP

Your business should not, and can-not consume your life. In fact this has been proven to be more beneficial than drudging along, while tired, without taking a break throughout the day. The time you spend working toward one single task, should consume your focus toward that task, and that task only.

When your time, for a given task is complete, it is time to move on. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing, it’s time to stop. When you resume that given task hour the following day, you can then start, where you left off the day prior.

I suggest you to block out all distractions surrounding you. To do this, you want to set your Skype settings or whatever software you use to chat, set the settings to “do not disturb.” Depending on what I’m doing, I close the other tabs.

I’ve personally found that by doing these things and following a schedule similar to the one I drew out above, has allowed me to complete approximately 90% more work in any given work week. I have found that my SEO Company has started to generate a lot more clients, and overall my complete bottom line has increased.

Not only has it benefited me at work, but it has allowed for more time at home with my wife and kids. :) I can honestly say to you that by doing this, you too will notice a drastic increase in your overall productivity. It’s too easy to become distracted in today’s modern world, let along on today’s modern Web, where we have a increasingly growing number of sites currently increasing from 612,843,429.

By allowing yourself time to focus 100% of your complete attention toward each of your topics of interest, for a certain time period, this adds a lot more quality to what you’re doing. By following these guidelines, you’ll no longer have to be in a hurry, while trying to get your work done.

While the world around us continues in an uncontrollable, downward spiral – you don’t have to.

    Hi Greg,
    Its Great to see you in action again, You know we have been talking about this schedule on Skype chat , At last you have explained a very well concept.

    I think we should not mess our daily life with our work. We are on a field where we can work by having a laptop on our legs and work any where but we should keep a balance with our personal life and working hours. You have explained a good schedule about handling your work.

    Hey Greg,

    People are wasting a lot of their time doing useless things which adds no value to their business. They actually don’t know the value of time, especially in online business.

    This is really a great time management schedule, but the problem is that I always awake at night and I sleep in day. So I think I need to make a little changes in it.

    Great advice.

    Task management systems have been extremely useful in helping me save time. They allow me to create an hour-by-hour, weekly schedule that, while it doesn’t always work out perfectly, helps build the foundation for setting and achieving goals.

    You said it all in 2 sentences:
    ‘Time is Money’ and ‘Stop wasting Time’.
    Time menagement and organising our time is the key to sucess. I like The Internet Marketing Schedule and i like the tip about blocking all the distracions surrounding us. This is something I should work on.

    I find that since I”m still growing my business that my days are extremely long, and I’ve actually created a “daily tasks” document that outlines my day and the best uses for it.

    I really like the 5:00 STOP but for me my days start much earlier and end much later.
    Something to work towards I guess! :)

    Nice post Gregory,

    You are so right about distractions! I was bogged down with my workload until I got a clue and decided to measure exactly how much time I was spending on tasks. And I realized that I was getting so distracted–all of those quick email and Facebook checks added up to a lot of time I could be building my biz. I now do what you do and shut down everything while I work and reward myself once the task is complete. Is it 100% foolproof? No. But it has helped me to be a whole lot more efficient!
