Very cute video! Puppies, and the dogs they ultimately grow into, are wonderful! But they’re also a lot of work, so anyone considering bringing a puppy or dog into their home needs to do their homework:
1. Make sure you’re prepared to give the new addition all the love and attention he/she needs. Puppies aren’t toys.
2. Research dog breeds to find one that fits your temperament and lifestyle. Don’t pick a dog just for their looks. Every dog breed has different needs and characteristics.
3. Finally, don’t buy a puppy at a pet store. Not only will you pay way too much money, most of these dogs come from puppy mills or other questionable sources. They don’t get what they need in the formative first several weeks of life and often have serious health issues. While you may feel you’re “rescuing” a puppy in this situation, you’re really perpetuating the problem by rewarding the stores and mills with your money. Instead, adopt a shelter pet or visit reputable breeders until you find the new member of your family.

Bringing a puppy into your home is a big decision and shouldn’t be made on impulse. Educate yourself and your puppy journey will be much more rewarding! ^_^

Thanks so much for including me in your post, Kristi! Heh, that post has spawned another post as well, where I share a site that will create a disclosure for you. Amazing how these things just sorta happen like that.

I’m not allowing my girlfriend to see this post…we have enough animals in the house as it is…I don’t want/need another! (although, secretly I do after that vid….darn you Kristi!)

Hehe… what you really should watch out for is when she “senses” you might fall for another animal. I caught my husband on a weak day and “happened” to need something at PetSmart. Surprisingly, there was an irresistible little kitten up for adoption that day. She was a great addition to the family. 🙂

I agree totally with Laurie’s advice above about how to select a puppy. I think getting a dog is a lot like getting married. You want to have a pretty good idea what you’re in for before you sign on the dotted line.

I have occasional thoughts about getting another dog, but I’m holding off for now. I house-sit in different areas about three months a year, and that almost always involves taking care of a great dog.

And thanks so much for featuring one of my posts today!

You’re welcome! And yes, you have to really think about the time and financial commitment seriously. If you’re not confident you will give a pet a good life, then you shouldn’t bring it into your home.

The embed code is similar to Youtube. When it comes to uploading videos, it’s a bit easier, although if you have a lot to upload, you might be forced into the paid membership. Otherwise, great network!

Thanks for these links. I spent some time following them and reading the articles. My favourite 3 articles that you recommend are Four roles serious bloggers play, How to make a blogging business plan, and 8 steps to boost audience engagement. I’ll be back.
