I was tagged by Richard at Makak Media to do the 7 Things People Don’t Know About Me meme. First off, here are the rules for this meme:

Link to your original tagger(s) and list these rules in your post.
Share seven facts about yourself in the post.
Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names and the links to their blogs.
Let them know theyรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve been tagged.

This is my third tag (that I know of) and each time, I like to do something a bit different. For this tag, I am going to write about 7 things that new or dedicated readers may not know about me and the history of

1. Why I Started

This blog was originally created as a way to share poetry I had written about the wonderful love story that began in May 2008, when I met the man I will be marrying in 45 days.

2. Psychology

I have been very interested in psychology since taking a general class in my first semester of college. I am intrigued by the way artistic types express themselves – seemingly quiet, shy people who reveal incredibly deep things about themselves via their art, like I always have though writing and poetry. I also believe I am an emotional sponge – someone who absorbs the feeling around them, leaving them with the task of deciphering if those feelings are being internally generated, or externally received.

3. My Techie Side

When my artistic side is taking a breather, my techie side surfaces began to show through with posts about web 2.0, backing up your blog, social networking and blogging tips. As I learn about new ways to improve my blog, I like to share them – anyone who blogs about any topic can benefit from increased technical knowledge to help them get their message to a wider audience.

4. An Attempt at Humor

In my single days (ones that I do not miss all that much), I took a short ride on the highway of internet dating. My frame of mind at the time was if I could get dinner, clothing, insurance rates, travel arrangements, and so many other things online, what was so different about finding a date there? One of the posts I consider my most humorous was inspired by my experience on

5. Things That Happen in My Sleep

Outside of experiencing sleep paralysis, I have some pretty vivid, crazy, and bizarre dreams. Two of the interesting things I have learned about dreams are their ability to interpret physical pain and leave behind emotional residue.

6. Beauty in Sadness

While I do share a lot of my photography on this site, there are some photos I keep private because they are sad. One was a photo of my grandmother’s hands, which I took a day before she passed away – instead of sharing that photo, I shared one of her wedding day in a tribute to her. Another was of a dead bird I saw outside of a tennis court – instead of sharing the photo, I shared the piece of writing it inspired. There was something about the sadness in those images I found beautiful.

7. My Soundtrack

Music can be very influential. It can change the tone of your mood, inspire you, remind you of specific moments in your life, and so on. A while back, I created a soundtrack which included music that related to different scenes of my life from the age of 10 until the present.

Tag, You’re It

So there you have it – some different tidbits of me that relate to the evolution of this site, from when I started it a year ago until now.

In conclusion, here are the seven people I tag to continue this meme: John from Potpolitics, Nutuba from A Day in the Life of Nutuba, Debbie from Heartchoices, Sheryl Lock, Brian from Extreme Ezine, Sire from Wassup Blog, and Wayne John.

Kristi, thanks for tagging me. I want to thank you for your visits to Heart Choices. You always add something of value to the mix of opinions. I think you are very creative and talented. You are always so giving and love to share things you’ve learned. BTW, you’ve taught me many things with your links and tools you’ve picked up along the way. I really appreciate your spirit of giving. I also enjoy learning new things about you. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. You make an adorable couple! I’m sure you’ll make a beautiful bride. I will participate and I’ll probably write a post tomorrow and link back to you. Thank you!!!

Debbies last blog post..Do You Know Your Neighbors?

Hi Kristi, thanks for taking part. It’s interesting you say you are an emotional sponge, I feel that way myself and found I absorb other peoples stress quite easily, one of the reasons for going self employed. I also suffer from sleep paralysis but minus the dark thoughts, mine is more waking up paralyzed after an afternoon nap, as you say it only happens to me when sleeping on my back. Congratulations on the wedding and I’ll check out your soundtrack now :o)

Richard Dewick – makakmans last blog post..7 Things You Probably Didnโ€™t Know About Meโ€ฆ

You tried Internet dating and I wasn’t told ๐Ÿ˜€ Oh, and just so you know, I want to thank you so much for tagging me because now all the world will know my dark innermost secrets.

@Eric: Thanks! Hope you enjoy it.

@Debbie: You’re welcome. I always enjoy reading your articles for their thoughtfulness and insight. And thanks for the compliments… the wedding is a little over a month from now, which is pretty exciting! ๐Ÿ™‚

@Brian: That’s fine. I didn’t know much about memes before I was tagged for one too, but they can be pretty fun, and can be customized to a specific topic. Last time I did six things I do to live a healthy lifestyle, for example. It’s a good way for readers to get to know us bloggers more personally.

@Richard: Originally, when I wrote the part about the emotional sponge, I really didn’t think anyone would understand it. I’m glad to know it makes sense to others, and that some share the same thing. I have heard sleep paralysis happens when people take naps, I guess because they don’t fully make it to REM in a short time. And thanks! I hope you enjoy the soundtrack.

@Sire: I tried it for a brief stint at the beginning of last year. Looking forward to reading those secrets! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi friend.. Interesting post.. Nice blog work.. keep it up..
will drop by your site often.. Do find time to visit my blog and post your comments..
Have a great day.. Cheers!!!

@PerfectMOney: I think there are plenty of gurus out there that know much more about making money with blogging than I do. I just stick with what I have experience with, and hope that those things help others excel in their blogging goals, whether it is to make money or just share themselves with others.

@Sean: Thanks! While I do talk about a lot of the techie stuff, I don’t want to write about it 100%. I love mixing in all the other topics, and especially the photography. ๐Ÿ™‚

@Dianne: I enjoy following people! I have found countless resources and interesting stuff through the people I follow.

@Dennis: I’ve always had a diverse playlist selection. For example, my favorite mix right now includes a few songs from the Kill Bill soundtrack, the music playing in the new Fast & the Furious trailer, some instrumentals from the Memoirs of a Geisha and Twilight soundtracks, and a bit of Josh Groban.

@John: Thanks for all the wonderful reviews, and social bookmark sharing! You’ve got a very unique and interesting site in terms of article content that I always enjoy visiting. ๐Ÿ™‚

@Debbie: I enjoyed reading your 7 things. Thanks for participating in the tag!

@sparkzspot: I definitely will stop by, very shortly. ๐Ÿ™‚

@Brian: Thanks for participating. I’ll head over to your post in just a few. ๐Ÿ™‚

@Jim: You’re welcome. I thought it would be nice for new visitors and readers to see all the things I have posted about in the past, as opposed to just what is most recent.

@ponnuswami: As far as dreams and physical pain, I think it’s interesting how if, say your arm is throbbing, you would dream about a car running it over or something odd. Just the story that your mind can come up with in your dreams for something that is actually affecting your body.
