If you’ve been looking for a Buffer-equivalent for visual content, then Viraltag is the platform you have been searching for. In a nutshell, Viraltag allows you to create a schedule and schedule posts to Twitter, Facebook (profiles and pages), LinkedIn (profiles and pages), Tumblr, and Pinterest.
How to Setup Viraltag
Setting up Viraltag is easy. Once you have created a free trial account, you will go to your accounts tab and connect your profiles and pages.
Next, you will go to your library. Here, you can connect to your image sources. These include Canva, Instagram, Flickr, Dropbox, and any RSS feed you choose.
Then, you will go to your dashboard and click on posting schedule. This is where you will set the timeframes during which you want to post to the social profiles and pages you have connected to your account.
Finally, you will go to My Account > Browser Extensions to download the browser extensions for Chrome or Safari, or grab the Viraltag bookmarklet for easy sharing to your Viraltag account throughout the web.
Now, you’re all set to start sharing visual content to your social profiles and pages.
How to Schedule Posts Inside Viraltag
There are several ways you can schedule posts to your social profiles and pages. First, you can use the post option within your Viraltag account to share content. You will start by uploading an image from your computer, finding an image using Google search, or getting an image from specific networks (Instagram, Picasa, Facebook, or Flickr).
On the next screen, you will share a description and link for your image and select the social accounts (including specific Pinterest boards) to which you want to post your update.
From here, you can choose to post the update now or to add the post to your queue. If you choose to add it to your queue, you can go to your dashboard and look under scheduled posts to see each individual update that is scheduled to go out. You can choose to edit or delete the posts as needed from here, or change the times they are scheduled to be posted.
Once the posts have been published, you will find each individual post in your dashboard under recent posts.
You can click on any of them to go directly to the post, pin, Tumblr blog entry, etc. on your social accounts. For example, here’s what a pin from Viraltag looks like.
And here’s what a tweet from Viraltag looks like.
On Tumblr, the image will be linked to the link you specified when you scheduled the post.
On LinkedIn, the image will be shared as a link post.
And on Facebook, the image will be shared as a photo post with the link in the description.
How to Schedule a Post Using Your Library
Another way to schedule a post to your social accounts is through your library sources. First, you will click on the source from which you want to share an image and then choose the image you want to share.
When you click the schedule button, you will be taken to a similar screen as shown above to add a description and link to your post.
If you selected more than one image, you can schedule posts for each individually, or choose the bulk scheduling option using the link above the individual photos.
Note that if you use the bulk scheduling, you can only have one description and one link for all of the images, so depending on what you are sharing, you may want to use the individual blocks to schedule each image.
How to Schedule a Post Using the Discover Tab
The discover tab in your Viraltag account allows you to find the best visual content across the web based on specific themes such as food, fashion, fun, DIY, photography, home, weddings, design, and other.
These are all pulled from other Viraltag users who have shared visual content to their social accounts. You can hover over an image you like and click the share image button to get the scheduler to add the image to your social accounts.
How to Schedule a Post Using Your Browser Extension
As you are browsing the web, if you see an image you want to schedule to your social accounts, you can do so by clicking on the browser extension button on Chrome or Safari, or your bookmarklet. When you click on Viraltag, you will get several images from the page you are viewing from which to choose.
You can then select one or more images to post to your accounts. When you click next, you will be shown the standard scheduler screen, or for multiple images, the screen with individual blocks for each image and bulk scheduling options.
Pricing and the Referral Program
What’s the best part of Viraltag? They currently offer a forever free plan for those who only want to connect to three accounts and share under 200 posts per month.
On their pricing page, you can find more details about discounts you can receive as an individual or a blogger for writing an honest review of the tool.
Inside of your account dashboard, under your settings, you will see a referral program tab. You can grab your custom referral URL and share it with others. If someone signs up for a paid plan, you get a $30 credit and they get a $15 credit. It’s a win-win for both parties!
Final Thoughts
The only thing missing from Viraltag at the moment is analytics. That aside, it’s still an easy to use tool for scheduling visual content to your social media accounts and keeping them up to date.
